LOUIS (May 12, 2011)--SAK Construction, a national pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling services contractor headquartered in the St. Louis area, has recently named Roger Archibald as chief financial officer. SAK provides specialized, high demand services ranging from large diameter tunneling to the full spectrum of current trenchless or “no-dig” technologies, including CIPP (cured-in-place pipe) pipeline rehabilitation.  The firm currently has projects in 23 states across the U.S. 

Archibald, whose most recent previous position was chief financial officer for C.L. Smith Co. in St. Louis, brings to SAK more than 30 years of experience in fiscal management, including acquisitions, external audits, and directing capital and productivity projects.  At SAK, Archibald will manage all aspects of the firm’s financial and administrative activities.

A certified public accountant, Archibald holds a bachelor of science degree in business from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill.  He is a board member and co-chairman of the economic development council of the Missouri State Chamber of Commerce and served as board president of the East Central College Foundation.

LOUIS (May 10, 2011)---SAK Construction, a national pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling services contractor with projects in 23 states, has recently added three new staff members to its business development and marketing team:  Joe Lane and Matt Wassam in Colorado, and Carrie Burtch, at SAK’s national headquarters in O’Fallon, Mo. SAK provides specialized, high demand services ranging from large diameter tunneling to the full spectrum of current trenchless or “no-dig” technologies, including CIPP (cured-in-place pipe) pipeline rehabilitation. 

Lane, who is based in Denver, has been named SAK’s business development leader for a cross section of strategic markets, including the energy, oil, gas and mining industries; federal agencies; and key municipal markets and accounts.  Lane has previously held several senior management positions and brings to SAK more than 20 years of experience in the infrastructure rehabilitation industry.  He has managed business units exceeding $100 million in annual revenue across the U.S. and has participated in and led some of the largest infrastructure upgrade programs in the nation.

Wassam, based in Castle Rock, Colo., has been named SAK’s business development leader for the municipal water markets.  He has been involved in the pipeline rehabilitation industry for seven years and has been instrumental in some of the nation’s largest trenchless water rehabilitation projects.  Prior to joining SAK, Wassam served as national sales manager for a major pipeline rehabilitation firm.

Burtch has assumed the role of SAK’s sales and marketing coordinator. She is responsible for pre-qualifications, city and state licensing, and marketing support projects.  Burtch, who has a decade of previous experience in marketing and business analysis, most recently worked as director of proposals and marketing for a facilities maintenance and management firm.

SAK continues to expand its Western U.S. operations with acquisition of California-based contractor

ST. LOUIS (March 31, 2011)--SAK Construction, a national pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling services contractor headquartered in the St. Louis area, announced today that it has acquired Pipenology Inc., a Rocklin, Calif.-based contractor.   The acquisition expands SAK’s Western U.S. presence, which currently includes work on major contracts in California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas.  SAK, which had gross revenues exceeding $70 million in 2010, offers expertise to clients nationwide in large diameter tunneling and trenchless technologies, including CIPP (cured-in-place pipe).

ST. LOUIS (November 4, 2010) ---The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, has awarded a $9.178 million contract to SAK Construction for the Old Mill Creek Phase 1A project for the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District. The project, which targets the aging Old Mill Creek Sewer and smaller connecting sewers, is designed to eliminate or control related sewer overflows that affect both the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County, Mo. SAK, a national pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling industries contractor headquartered in the St. Louis area, won the contract in a negotiated Request for Proposal solicitation.

The Old Mill Creek Phase 1A project is partially funded by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, which provides significant funding for states to finance high priority infrastructure projects needed to ensure clean water and safe drinking water.   

“With America’s aging infrastructure, communities nationwide face serious issues related to deteriorating sanitary sewers, storm sewers and water mains,” says Charlie Kuhnmuench, vice president of business development, SAK Construction. “To help clients avoid or solve water-related problems, we develop and deliver the specific, most cost-effective pipeline solutions—such as cured-in-place pipe--that will work best for each community’s sewer and water main needs.  For the Old Mill Creek project, we’ll apply a cross-section of trenchless technologies to rehabilitate the sewer and its connectors with minimal disruption to the above-ground environment.”

SAK Construction will rehabilitate 5,360 linear feet of the arch-shaped, 15-foot-tall, 20-foot-wide Old Mill Creek sewer and connecting sewers.  Work on the existing century-old structure, which is built of limestone block and brick, requires external chemical grouting; reinforcement of the con-crete invert; repair of 8-inch, 12-inch, 15-inch and 18-inch lateral sewer pipes; the application of reinforced shotcrete lining; and protection and restoration of the site. The project’s scheduled completion date, subject to delays due to high river stages, is the end of November 2011.

LOUIS (September  21, 2010) ---The City of Chattanooga, Tenn., has awarded a $3 million CIPP contract to SAK Construction for wastewater collection system rehabilitation and replacement on the Upper Amnicola and Tiftonia Interceptors in Hamilton County. SAK is a national pipeline rehabilitation and tunneling industries contractor headquartered in the St. Louis area.

SAK Construction will employ cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) rehabilitation on the Upper Amnicola and Tiftonia interceptor projects. SAK’s application of CIPP plays a vital role in the pipeline rehabilitation industry’s “no dig” technology that rehabilitates damaged sewer pipes quickly and cost-effectively, with minimal disruption or inconvenience to the surrounding community and environment. The Upper Amnicola and Tiftonia Interceptor projects are managed by the City of Chattanooga.
